Feeling extra thankful today for a couple of reasons…First off I won a competition on Twitter! A blogger I follow was having a giveaway so in support I thought I would enter, and I won! Secondly, I’ve been invited to host the ‘Bloggeration’ magazine #BloggerationChat session next Sunday! I’m a litter nervous, but the excitement way outweighs those.
And THIRDLY, I have been so warmly welcomed into the Mypure blogger family!
“MYPURE was one of the uk’s first online destinations to buy purely natural and organic beauty products – handpicked to represent the crop of the world’s best and most effective beauty brands, from cult buys to everyday essentials for all the family. We believe that cosmetics, toiletries and home cleaning products made from natural & organic ingredients are easier on our bodies and less likely to cause problems like allergic reactions and skin sensitivity. Products made from natural ingredients are less polluting during manufacture and they biodegrade quickly after use. Great for you, even better for earth. . .” – Mypure.co.uk
From that little intro on their “About Us” page, you can obviously understand why I’m so excited by this, as my love for trying out Organic and Natural Skincare and Cosmetics for my troublesome skin is truly something I’m all about.
So with that, I’ll call out that this post is in loving collaboration with MyPure, once again, and I’m super happy you’re joining me in my first impressions of a couple of products by Evolve Organic Beauty.
From the brand:
First off, the packaging for all Evolve products is awesome. I love how they look like old fashioned medicine jars! Call me ‘hipster’ but they look great in photos, as well as just sitting in your bathroom if you’ve got a rustic vibe going on.
On first opening the lip treat, I noticed how waxy the formula is…or like really hard butter when it’s been in a cold fridge. This screamed ‘treatment’ at me, and not just a casual balm. Come to think of it, with the main ingredient being Shea Butter, that’s exactly where these texture feels come from.
As you can see from the photos, the formula almost looks like a candle, and actually in the photo above, I have already had sever uses out of it, with very minimal product depletion.
The Lip Treat feels very luxurious on the lips, with a rich coating best enjoyed before bed for me. I don’t do well with wearing just balms throughout the day, and only truly notice a difference in the condition of my lips after night time wear, probably because I slosh lipstick all over my mouth during the day, cancelling out any decent treatment effects.
I have had some real issues with my lips lately actually, and it seems it’s been ever since the ‘Matte Lip Trend’ flying around. Matte lips just curse me. I love the look, but hate the horrible splitting and dryness they bring, so having a treatment to restore my soft feels back is just what I needed.
The balm has a strong orange citrus scent on application (that’ll be the Blood Orange Oil then!), with cocoa undertones. Chocolate Orange is a favourite for many, of course, and for good reason. There’s no taste as such, but a very short lived sweetness that breezes by in the first few seconds of wear.

From the brand:
Crikey, I was so shocked when I unscrewed the lid on this thing! I was expecting a very “normal looking” mask formula, if I’m honest. Something along the lines of a white cream, or gel like looking recipe. What I was faced with, however, was this!
It could not look, nor smell more like chocolate cake mix/batter! The scent almost blew me backwards, and had me desperately raiding my snack boxes for some 85% Green and Blacks! It’s potent, and wonderful (if you’re a chocoholic. If you’re not, you might want to reconsider this mask).
The formula, on first touch, is very similar to cake mix too. No joke. It’s quite “gelly”, but also a cream base, and had me feeling like I really should be eating it, rather than wasting it on my face. Think Boris Bogtrotter from Matilda.
Rubbing it through my fingers, I could easily feel the ‘Coconut Shell Powder’ called out in the ingredients, which at first scared me a little because it felt rather course, and I have very sensitive skin.
I wasn’t about to wimp out though, and gentle application felt perfectly comfortable, with any fears of too much abrasion quickly let go of.
Oops, didn’t mean to scare you! Look at the ‘cake’! Does it not just look like I’ve lost a food fight??
The instructions told me to apply a thick layer of the mask to my face, which actually took quite a few scoops. I would say that from this application, I have around 3 left from the 60ml full size jar.
And know what..I did it..I licked it a bit. I did, I confess. I also urge you not to lick it. I took one for the “Does it taste as good as it smells” team, and can 100% confirm that this is pretty bitter stuff. Don’t do it. It’s not meant for eating.
So during my 5 minute wait for the goodness to happen, I had some very, very minor stinging where my current blemishes are, but that was absolutely fine, and usually happens with anything like this. The mask stays fluid, and doesn’t tighten up like some types, which results in a really comfortable experience.
When time was up, I gently washed the mask off with tepid water, being very careful and gentle as I did, due to the exfoliating properties being at their most intense at this point. The mask turns into a very strong scrub, which on final rinse left my skin ultimately smooth and springy.
I did find that the formula took a long time to fully come off, and that I was left with a lot of cocoa residue on my face for the rest of the day here and there, so again, I truly recommend this product for a cosy pamper evening, where you won’t be needing to doll yourself up to go out after.
RRP: £18.00 from MyPure
I estimate each mask application to be approximately £4.00, based on the amount of product I felt worked best for me here.
What do you think of my first impressions? Have you any experiences with this brand? Which would you like to try from the range?
