[Before we delve deeper, I am so thrilled to announce that as an official ambassador for the Origins brand, all views of complementary products and brand experiences during my time are 100% my own, and in no way influenced by the brand or associated partners]
Back as early as July last year, I received a voicemail from Chloe, an exec at Origins for the South East.
I had been shortlisted to be one of Cambridge's very own Origins Glow Guides for the year 2017-2018.
In a heart melting panic, because I was literally only a week post surgery for my double jaw breakage, I had to get my husband Lloyd to call her back and explain that I was of course ready to accept the next stage of the offer, but I had a face like a chipmunk and slurred every single word I attempted to say.
Chloe and the Origins team being as wonderful as they are didn't actually see this as an issue, and let me continue conversations by email.
Anyway, look, long story short, during the month of August I was dancing around the living room having been told the news that out of so very, very many other aspiring guides in the Cambridge region, I was chosen for the final 5!
During a most wonderful brunch time session on November the 3rd, the 5 of us chosen for the program arrived excitedly at Novi, Cambridge, to meet our Origins associates, Chloe and Bea, for socialising and brainstorming over pancakes and tea.
Our collective aim as Glow Guides is to spread the ethos, passion, and engagement of Origins as a brand with skincare enthusiasts alike, share product knowledge, support our flagship stores, and create further brand awareness as Origins continues to do what it does best - explore and develop with growth and nurturing care.
Origins has been a brand which has sat somewhere in plain view of my dresser/cabinet/drawers since school days, when I first started to need a little help with my teenage skin.
After a while, as old friends do, you part ways when new things come to pass, but when I hit my 30s I began to experience horrific adult acne and crazy sensitivity. Who did I turn to?
Hi Origins, remember me? I needed to call on a favour again, and so popped into store around a year ago to see how to get things back on track. I even wrote an article about it back then HERE.
Like true friends do, we just picked up where we left off, and things started to improve again for me by bringing a couple of products here and there into my daily routine again.
So after that visit, I just began popping in store whenever I passed by really! Even just to say 'Hi' to Claire and the girls! They're an incredible bunch, and I look up to them so much. Being able to now work alongside them as a Glow Guide is such a fun prospect, and I'm so happy that I can finally get stuck in.
For me, it's going to be all about sharing exploration, and fun. I want to celebrate the fact that even if we don't have the most spotless, bouncy, hydrated, flawless skin at times (trust me, I can't really remember a time when I could say it was all of those things in one go), we shouldn't lose faith or be reluctant to look in the mirror.
Join me as I host sparkly events and Origins parties in store with the team to celebrate how fabulous you are, whilst letting go and treating yourself, as well as allowing Origins and I to treat you too!
I'll also be personally exploring the progressing range of Origins products over the year ahead to bring you my thoughts and experiences as we go, all shared here on my site, and across social media, with no doubt some extra special goodies for my lovely audience too!
