After what turned out to be an utter disaster with an acne flair up (which I'll hold my hands up and say seems to be entirely down to the Dior 'Forever Perfect' foundation, now I've stopped using it), I was entirely relieved to be invited to have a "Flawless Skin" Make Up Lesson with Bobbi Brown at my local John Lewis department store.
Please note that my skin during my session was at the worst it has been in months. Probably a year. I had red, irritated, insanely angry spots which grew on top of spots, on top of spots. Inflammation was raw, and I was at my absolute lowest.
The lesson itself was to mark the launch of a new foundation welcomed to the range, named "Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation", which is actually exclusive to John Lewis stores.
I won't lie to you, I was a little nervous to sit myself down in the make up chair, as I say, simply because my skin was an absolute pimple ridden mess which I only assumed a layer of concrete might fix, but Kim (my artist for the morning) was exceptionally understanding, welcoming, and took my troubles hand in hand with some sterling suggestions on how to fix the issues, having Bobbi B to come to the rescue.

Kim first started out with prepping my skin in forehead to chin Bobbi (obviously). The routine:
Cream: Vitamin Enriched Face Base.
With my perfectly pristine canvas ready to go, my skin was tested against 3-4 colours from the new foundation range (there are 30 SHADES by the way...!).
The best match for me was eventually decided to be 'Beige', which is also my concealer colour actually, which I matched myself up with a few months back.
Kim only took a matter of 2-2.5 pumps of the Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation for me, and swept across my face and forehead with the Bobbi Brown full coverage face brush for even application (I do need to pick one of these up, actually. It's such a dense but versatile little thing! Little to no product waste either, I noticed).
Immediately I could see that my skin was all of even tone, with exceptional comfort for the level of high coverage which was clearly needed with me. I'm quite shocked how little product was actually needed to do the job, mind you.
True to its name, and the main thing I was waiting for out of the experience, was that the foundation did indeed feel weightless. Quite often I need so much product that sure, I can feel it, however this guy feels like a moisturiser does when it "melts" to the skin, as oppose to sitting as a mask. Just what I needed to help my poor, distressed skin to breathe.
And boy, I'm the definition of this. How I've not embraced Bobbi Brown products more in the past when their focus is as strong on balanced and nutritional elements for the skin, as it is for the glamour is beyond me.

I'm around a week of wearing the Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation, and I cannot express how relieved and grateful I am to have been introduced to this guy. My acne has taken full chill time, my redness is soothed and quietened down a tonne, and I have a full coverage foundation that I know is putting some good into my problem skin, and not just acting as a mask to cover up the angry imperfections. That's absolutely not the right way to go with full face make up.
I do still have quite a way to go with getting my skin back to what's considered "normal", but now at least I know I have caring ingredients on my side.
