Recently I headed on over to an evening event at Cambridge’s very own Smashbox Studio store for insight into the incredible techniques behind lip art.
In addition, those of us there were invited to explore the ‘Metals & Pigments’ lip line used to create such amazing looks.
• Formulated without Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Phthalates, Silicone, Oil & Talc.
• Metallic & vinyl-like finishes
• Delivers one-coat rich, saturated colour
• Foolproof precision tip applicator distributes product evenly
• Makes lips appear more plump & full
• Feels soft & comfortable on lips; non-gritty
If you checked out my Instagram stories lately, you'll see me wearing my favourite choice of bold lip (I saved the story as a highlight titled "A Life Weekend"). Believe it or not, one of my first ever liquid lip purchases was one from Smashbox, called "Orange Crush". If I'm honest with you, I can't seem to find it anywhere in their permanent line now! I can, however, weirdly find it on SimplyBe here, if you're interested (gosh, did I really get it THAT long ago!?)
It's not a matte formula, but more of a gloss to wet satin. It's extremely pigmented, and divinely comfortable to wear.
If you don't fancy heading over to my stories just yet, here's a look at a swatch by the divine "cassandramyee".
After a little "Prosecco introduction" to the evening, and a giggle with a show and tell and try on of the liquid lip colour range, we were introduced to Olivia Jensen , a resident makeup artist at the Smashbox Studio.
Olivia was poised and ready to show us her skills when it came to really putting the liquid lip products into action, with a demonstration of a bejewelled look on a her very own glamorous model before us.
Isn't it incredible?! It's so fascinating what you can create with good quality products, safe body glue, and some shiny studs. I love the level of detail she went to with the embellishment! Filling any gaps with the tiniest gems to leave no space "un-glammed".
Whilst all this marvellous-ness was going on, there was always going to be time for a spot of shopping, especially when there were some seasonal sale offers going on in the store!
I picked up the Be Legendary Lip Palette for £23, all the way down from £36 (such a good deal!!), as well as an Essentials Face Brush Roll for only £26, which is literally the price of a single brush in most cases. Needless to say I was ultimately pleased with myself.

I've swatched pretty much all of the shades in the 'Be Legendary' Palette, and despite there being a mixture of creams and mattes in the kit, they all feel as equally soft and moisturising as each other, which is always something I fear is missing from matte selections.
I particularly love:
Left to Right: Mauve Matte (A Mauve Pink) | Mandarin Cream (Hot Coral) | Femme Fatale Matte (Plum) | Punked Matte (Deep Grey)
