If you've had a recent catch up with me on my skincare routine lately on Instagram Stories , you'll know that after feeding my face (well..the skin on my face) with goodness following a nasty reaction to some unruly foundation, I am finally able to move on to more nourishing and brightening products to bring brightness and life back into my resurfaced skin.
The acne reaction has really calmed down, and "new skin" is appearing healthily in much larger areas now. I'm so, so thrilled, and I do have Origins products to thank yet again for this, as well as including some zinc vitamins and medicated gels to my morning and night routine.
I'm not focusing on the "medicated and acne targeted" side of things in today's post though, but on the ways I'm helping keep my new skin happy, deeply cleansed to prevent old problems coming back, and encouraging radiance back after medicated products need to encourage a little dryness in order to absorb excess oils and suffocate spots.
Please note that I am a contracted Origins Ambassador, and have received complimentary products, however all is through my own choosing, and all opinions are sincerely and honestly my own - Read More Here.
Origins' 'Modern Friction' range is all about bringing forth your inner glow by gently ridding your skin of dullness and dryness, and encouraging illumination and radiance.
There are two products in the range which I am currently in love with, and I'm really excited to talk you through them.
Modern Friction: NATURE'S GENTLE DERMABRASION (£23.50) is a smoothing exfoliant without irritation.
"Watch skin-refining Rice cushioned in rich cream remove rough patches, dull, dead cells, uneven spots and signs of skin damage. While Lemon Oil brightens. See signs of fine lines and pores appear to shrink. Skin looks perfectly polished, smooth and luminous."
Now I've tried exfoliators before, and the grains within have caused more harm than done on my delicate skin (one I tried when I was a teen ACTUALLY contained SAND!!).
The Modern Friction formula, however, feels much kinder and although it truly does get in there with it's rice based particles to give you a thorough scrub, the creamy carrier product base is such a good choice, as it supports with a soothing and cleansing feel at the same time.
The addition of the lemon oil is also very welcome too, as we all know how grand an oil is as part of your daily skin routine. It just feels a really well thought out product to me.
Best for all skin types.
In a test on a volunteer panel of 54 women after 1 use:
-94% of those who had undergone clinical micro-dermabrasion said they would now consider using Modern Friction instead.
THE MODERN FRICTION RANGE
Modern Friction: CLEANSING OIL WITH RADIANCE-BOOSTING WHITE & PURPLE RICE (£17.50) is my current "go to" second cleanse product, following the Mega Mushroom Micellar Water 1st step of makeup removal.
"This gentle dual phase cleanser transforms from a silky, luxurious oil to a creamy milk. Infused with radiance-boosting White and Purple Rice, it helps to illuminate skin as it melts away makeup, dirt and more. Skin feels comfortably clean and soft, as this product helps to purify and cleanse skin... just add water!"
Ok so let's get it out of the way...this product looks gorgeous, right? Ok good.
So yes, you can use this product as a makeup remover, but the formula is so luxurious and so full of goodness that I honestly feel like it's a waste to use it just to get the grime off.
So once I've removed the majority of my makeup, I add a few splashes of this oil cleanser to the palms of my hands, warm it up with a gentle palm press, and then press and slowly work the oil into my face whilst it's dry.
I literally just chill for a moment and enjoy this step. I've learned that rushing the second cleanse stage of my evening routine is just silly! It's one of the most important steps for ensuring your skin is completely cleansed and ready for your treatments to absorb. I honestly take around 1-2 minutes here just massaging my cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead with this lovely stuff.
The smell is utterly beautiful. There's almost a "herby" scent going on at first, before transforming into a subtle citrus/floral.
"Legend says that Japanese women who bathed in rice water were renowned for their youthful glow. Rice’s skin-polishing properties made it an ancient beauty secret. It gently exfoliates to reveal soft, smooth, radiant skin. Purple rice from China, once reserved for nobility and called forbidden rice, is rich in antioxidants."
REJUVENATING MOISTURIZER has actually always been the moisturiser I've included in my routine from the early days, and I don't see any sign of changing any time soon, unless I fancy perhaps trying something new in the Origins range as my skin progresses. I know that my skin enjoys Origins moisturisers, so I'm worried to stray anywhere else really.
"This rejuvenating moisturiser fortified with self-hydrating Rose of Jericho plus our Lychee and Watermelon hydra-sustain complex quenches deeper than ever before to help repair the natural moisture deficiency in dry, dehydrated skin. Clinically proven to instantly boost skin's moisture reservoir to keep it comfortably hydrated."
There's something instantly comforting about this cream, regardless of it's inner qualities. The scent is so calming, and the richness of the formula is immediately "sigh-full" on contact. It also lasts for-flipping-ever. This particular pot is around 5 months old now, and has been love morning and evening continuously.
THE MAKE A DIFFERENCE PLUS+ RANGE
Whilst I've needed to add some dehydrating medicated products into my routine, this little pot of joy has kept up amazingly well with what I've been throwing at my skin the past month. Sometimes moisturisers can counteract acne medication, as the medication itself is helping to dry out the skin in order to "kill off" the bacteria hungry spots.
I've found that Make A Difference Plus+ hasn't done anything of the sort, and has allowed my medicated treatments to do their thing, whilst waiting patiently to sooth me down and provide me with a level of moisture to keep me from turning into a hot slab in summer.
Even if I go all out and slather my face in this on a day when I am feeling especially stifled, no excess oil is produced for me, which is blooming awesome.
- 100% experienced continuing improvement in skin’s moisture levels
So yes, in closing, I am now back and having fun with my skin again...what a relief! Right now, this little three course combo is serving me up a good one right now, and I can see speedy improvement every single morning.
Do remember that when you find your perfect skincare routine, always ensure that you compliment it with lots of hydration, and even some additional help of supplements if needed. I really have found that upping my zinc intake really has helped a lot too...coming at skin from all sides!!
"Zinc is known to help ward off acne flare-ups. Pimples develop when a buildup of oil, bacteria and skin cells block pores, causing the skin around the pore to turn red, swollen and tender. Zinc, which boosts immune function, may help control that inflammatory response."
