The evening started out with a really inspiring and incredible insight into the latest charity partnership between The Body Shop and International Alert’s Peace Play Project.
"For every gift you buy from our seasonal gift collections, we will donate 4.4p to International Alert’s Peace Play Project. Discover how The Body Shop and International Alert are helping refugee children to be children again with our game-changing seasonal gift collections." – Play For Peace.
We were taken through the thought process behind the new interactive elements of the latest collection, and why having more “playful involvement” in the packaging was really here to help the campaign directive shine through.
"This Christmas, we want you to forget adulting and embrace togetherness through festive fun and games. From quizzes and spinners to mazes and dice, loads of the packaging in our exciting new seasonal gift collections transforms into games for the whole family to enjoy." – Play For Peace.
The cheerful colours with vibrant designs full of fun and personality really reflected the intention of the project, and I loved the inclusion of even dice games in The Body Shop advent calendar too!
THE BODY SHOP ADVENT
One of a kind, I’m sure of it! It seriously opened my eyes to the hype surrounding all of the other major beauty and lifestyle advent calendars around today, and made me realise just how focused on the materialistic I can be toward them, from time to time.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with letting luxury indulgence into your life, and actually, I endorse it! HOWEVER, listening to the thought behind the Play For Peace campaign, it’s also so very, very important to remember including ways to make a difference too.
"Together with International Alert, our mission this Christmas is to send love, joy and compassion to some of the most vulnerable people in the world. Every gift you buy from our seasonal gift collections will help fund the Peace Play Project in Lebanon for a year, providing play and activities in a safe place for Syrian refugee children." – Play For Peace.
THE BODY SHOP FAVOURITES
What a treat to have the one and only Henry Holland alongside International Alert on the panel stage too! I adore House of Holland, so this was such a huge deal for me. Hearing Henry take us through his early stage design ideas for the collaboration, whilst enthusiastically showing us the end products was such fun, and he looked utterly amazing in his statement chequered trousers too!
From the “playground game” styled multicoloured, “Wonder Cube”, to the quirky typography and contrasting patterns of the Black and White Musk gift sets, everything was eye catching in the most fun and celebratory way!
THE BODY SHOP GIFTS
Holly and I both picked up the HOH Limited Edition Matte Lip Liquid Collection in its gorgeous, red, starry lip tin, as well as other seasonal goodies like the Pumpkin Spice Body Butter, and the festive Vanilla Chai Shower Gel.
Other favourites from the HOH collection include the gorgeously gift focused Limited Edition Butter Bauble Shea , and the stunning White Musk Deluxe Gift Set, complete with pop-up book inspired packaging!
The Body Shop staff of Oxford Street must have been so utterly thrilled and proud to have welcomed so many adoring fans to their store, for such a thought provoking and generous occasion. The products are always wonderful in themselves, but to have such strong, charitable messages attached to them really does bring the warmth to Christmas that I feel we all need.
Thank you, The Body Shop!
