During a recent trip into the Notting Hill area for a little photoshoot with my girl Holly Ah-Thion, we began to get hungry tummies.
Holly had already recommended 'The Farm Girl' in Portobello for a fresh and healthy refuel before we met up for the day, so after a little bit of googling, I was pre-prepared to be excited.
"A holistic and healthy, yet comfortingly simple approach to Australian cafe culture in the heart of Notting Hill. Farm Girl values fresh, nutritionally nurturing ingredients and delivers them in a warm and welcoming environment." - About
Holly and I chose to sit outside rather than in, as the indoor seating area had "cosy lighting", which doesn't always do well for us avid fans of Instagram 😉
Fear not though, the outside courtyard area is beautifully nestled between buildings to keep the wind out, and strong heaters are situated above the tables to keep you toasty.
Bear in mind it was the end of November for our visit, and I was perfectly comfortable sat outside without my coat on. Lovely!

Holly and I went for pretty much the same thing, however I had an added egg with my:
Avocado Toast 8.00 V
Lemon juice, fresh coriander & a sprinkle of pomegranate
add a poached egg + 2.00
Charcoal Latte 4.00 V
Activated charcoal, date syrup & cashew milk
I have to say, Farm Girl is VERY generous with the avo, right? That's obviously not a bad thing. I also like how there wasn't anything more than a little seasoning and the pomegranate served with it too. I'm really not a fan of places that say "avocado on toast", but then put onions and all sorts into the avocado too.
Speaking of pomegranate, my gosh, it compliments avocado so well!! I never would have thought to combine the two in a dish, but it truly is gorgeous!
The toast was sourdough for me (lovely), and Holly's was gluten free on request.
My added egg was an absolute treat in that it was perfectly poached, with the most generous and rich, runny yolk inside. I love a perfect egg.
The Charcoal Latte was beautifully presented, and the novelty of the colour wasn't the whole selling point. You must remember that this isn't coffee based at all, it's more of a "sweet ish milk drink", and reminded me of almost a custard! Not as thick, but...you know...that creamy, warm taste. This is obviously much better for you than a glass of custard though, of course.
Holly opted for a different flavoured specialist latte, which was as follows:
Rose Latte 3.60
Double shot with rose water
infused milk & petals
You can see it featured above in the picture next to mine, but how gorgeous, right? Look at those dried rose petals!
You can hopefully see from my captures of the food and drinks that presentation and attention to delicious detail is not even slightly missed here at The Farm Girl.
Flavour compliments colour in everything on offer, and as I hope you can also see from the ingredients that your body will feel the love too.
What a gloriously shining gem within the picturesque paradise of Portabello to discover. What would you like to try from the menu? If you've been before, what are your favourites?
