February marked the month where it had been an entire year since exchanging contracts and taking the keys to my new and greatest purchase - the new house.
As many of my regular readers will know, the house was extremely outdated and required a lot of building work to bring it up to modern functionality and finish. Since moving in we've done really well, with an entire new damp course installed, new roofing and fascias, a new modern kitchen and bathroom, and flooring throughout.
With all of the functional updates in place I can enjoy bringing personal style to each room to give the structure some personality as oppose to the blank plaster and lined walls following the building work. One of my most favourite rooms so far has to be the bedroom and landing area. There's still a fair bit to do, with some painting required and wardrobes needing an install, but it's the little things that can really create a larger impact than expected, so here goes! My Interior Style Update.
I've always been a fan of blinds over curtains for pretty much every window in the house. All windows downstairs have wooden slat blinds, the bathroom has a manual roller blind, and as do the spare rooms too. The only exception is the bedroom where I prefer floaty curtains to throw open of a morning.
A very special addition to the blind family though is my extremely chic motorised blind by Order Electric Blinds (#4). It's an absolute gamechanger for the morning and evening walk across the upstairs coridoor. I can simply press a button and up or down it goes! There's even a really fab "My" setting where you can program the exact closed distance so you're not trying to be precise with your timining manually!
The colour I went for was Magnetic Grey, and I have to say although it looks a very cool and contemporary grey, the light is blocked out entirely.
You also have the blind entirely crafted to fit your desired window size before ordering too. I must say, mine arrived perfectly. It couldn't have been a better fit.
Installation is of simple instruction, however do be aware that a masonary drill may be your best bet for getting the fixings nice and snug. Love it!
I'm a pushover for accents and detailing. I believe that you can have the most plain and uninspiring walls, butthe life is instantly injected with what's placed and coordinated within them. I've picked up a few gorgeous little finds over the last monthto embellish my boudoir, and I'd love to share them with you! Here are the links in relation to my little graphic above if you fall in love with any, and feel free to enjoy my captures of them in situ!
The look I'm going for is fresh, delicate, and etheral with a hint of modern with the grey and stripe details to compliment. I also love adding hints of metal to my interior design elements, and anywhere I can throw in a gold or brass accent is a given opportunity as standard.
I think one of my favourite decor items is the G & B wall art. I love the edginess to it, with the gorgeous brass construction which works in harmony entirely with the feminne elements of the agate and resin ring holders. Little whispers of pink tones bring a little sweetness and warmth.
The splash of fairy lights across the feature wall give a magical glow to help me relax down to my favourite entertainment, before drifting off to sleep. I love mood lighting so much. Anywhere I can incorporate light as a feature is also an absolute must.
