Last weekend called for fast cars and comfortable style, whereby I donned some ‘masculine’ threads to look sharp and tailored in Polo Ralph Lauren, and Topshop. This weekend, however, I had different feels altogether, and after noticing more and more visions of ‘the slip dress’ hitting the rails lately, I wanted to feel floaty too.
I’ll let you in on a not-so-secret secret though, and ought to mention that this outfit was wholly crafted from sales items…No shame. I sometimes try and challenge myself (we all watch our purse strings these days), by giving myself a budget and making a new ensemble for a maximum of *however many* pounds. This look cost me little under £25. £24.98 to be exact.
Really comfortable dress to wear, and although simple in structure, the scallop detailing is an adorable accent. I was a little concerned that skip dresses might be too sheer or easily blown about, however this one is almost made of a ‘waffle’ material, making it hang nice and heavy. There’s also a “modesty panel” across the chest so you can quite comfortably not wear a bra with it (depending on your preference of course, you still can), which further means that the gorgeous keyhole detailing at the back isn’t accompanied by a bra clasp.
The bag is by Miss Kurt Geiger, made of an extremely soft suede fabric, and studded with gold metal hardware. There’s only one pocket, so it’s an envelope style clutch, which transforms beautifully into a chained shoulder purse. Plenty of space for your phone, keys, cards and so on, just be weary that there’s no zip there, and the safety of everything is fully dependent on the magnet closure at the front.
So with the tennis now at a close (good job Murray), I’m tempted to take a look at the Ralph Lauren sale bits and bobs. Loved how Polo Ralph Lauren were Wimbledon fashion sponsors this time. Has it always been that way?! Also, I have a trip to the RHS Gardens in Wisely in the coming weeks, so might pick up a pretty piece from the Joules sales for a new post on that.
Let’s keep willing Mr Sunshine to come out and be our best friend again!
