Over a long weekend in July, Newmarket Racecourse hold a “July Festival” event, whereby best dressed gentlemen, ladies, and couples arrive on dates between a Friday and Sunday (inclusive) to celebrate the “Sport of Kings”, fine food and drink, as well as luxury fashion and styling.
I was very excited to join the masses at this year’s 2017 meet, not only to appreciate the elements noted above, but to also indulge myself in new tastes too – one of which I immediately fell in love with on the style front: Fairfax and Favor.
"Established in 2013 by childhood friends, Marcus Fairfax Fountaine and Felix Favor Parker, Fairfax & Favor has descended upon the footwear industry as a luxury, British-born lifestyle brand. Designed as a line of footwear and accessories with a commitment to innovation in craftsmanship and design, Fairfax & Favor aims to create a timeless, fashion investment in every piece."
Situated on a prime location row of vendors sat the Fairfax and Favor stand, with floor to ceiling examples of timeless and classic pieces for your arms, and feet.
Beautiful creations in the finest leather and suede, with impressive hardware detailing, ranging from all time classics like men and women’s loafers, Chelsea boots, over to elegant knee highs, thigh highs and more.
More examples for the ladies were a stunning collection of handbags, ranging from clutch to “carry alls”, and convenient sizes in between.
It doesn’t just stop at the physical make up of the products, but furthermore you can customise some of the ranges with your own choice of coloured tassel for a pop of personality.
In fact, to raise awareness and donations toward “Breast Cancer Care”, Fairfax & Favor promoted and sold pink tassels, and smashed their £10,000 target to deliver an incredible £13,691.31 collectively! 100% of all proceeds went to the cause. Fantastic!
An example of the interchangeable boot tassel options can be found HERE.
It doesn’t stop at tassels either! You can also choose to personalise your Fairfax & Favor products in gold initials too! More on this service, HERE.
I’m a “classic navy girl” at heart, so I was immediately drawn to the navy blue with gold hardware designs, and found it quite hard to stop snapping photos of them all.
Saying that, however, I have to completely admit (and as I exclaimed on Twitter recently) that the “Windsor” handbag in ‘Royal Blue’ absolutely took my breath away! Just LOOK at that shade (below right)!! It’s the most incredible example of a royal blue that I’ve ever seen!
Switch up the “Henley’s” for a pair of the “Athena’s” with a blazer equipped, for an equally stylish evening meet.
If navy isn’t as much your thing as it is mine, there’s the ever timeless “Tan” option (just look at the “Sailsbury” purse here), as well as the sophistication of black of course (The ‘Hurlingham’ tote of dreams, here).
I was also lucky enough to meet founding director, Felix Favor Parker himself on the day too, who was exceptionally welcoming as we enjoyed a couple of chats about travels and my blogging habits.
Needless to say I was a little star struck, as I’m ever bound to be when I meet founders in fashion, but there's something about this brand that was really home grown and easy to warm too, with a personable approach to their customers and admirers. The fact that Felix was there to greet his patrons and offer personal advice was so fab, and a pretty rare thing actually!
Hopefully I’ll get to meet the team again in the future as their collections continue to grow, but for sure, I’ll be following their continued progress from afar – no doubt!
