From the typical lifestyle “on location” shoots comes a new era of style content for me these days, as we turn on the webcam, fire up the stream, and get ready to “Go Live” as ‘Go Sally, GO!’.
If this is news to you, I have a recent post all about my inclusion of Twitch.tv in my life now, and you can read the whole thing HERE if you like.
With streaming, I still like to ensure that not only my branding is looking swish, but also present myself preened too! It’s just who I am, and a huge part of me is getting “show ready” for any social occasion, whether it’s at an event, a personal shoot, or hanging out with my live stream friends through the screen.
From donning some glam false lashes from time to time for extra impact, to colour coordinating my comfy clothes for the hours of fun in my cosy chair, it all ties in with getting my personality portrayed accurately to get everyone “meeting up” with the real me!
Quite literally. To ensure that my viewers have the best quality webcam capture of me possible on stream, I like to be well lit. For this, I have myself a large studio ring light (9) positioned behind my primary monitor, and chair positioned face forward toward it.
With strongly lit situations, fellow bloggers and vloggers will know that for the most part it’s the most flattering thing you can include in your shoots and captures, however after sitting for a while on stream in slightly increasing heat from the PC and lighting itself, a little shine can grace ones prominent regions.
This is why I will ensure that I dust on my favourite Bobbie Brown sheer face powder (2) to my T-zone, along with a little extra blush and contour to ensure I don’t look washed out or “flat”.
Adding a little boost to my expression with some of my favourite falsies is always fun too If I’m feeling a little lack lustre, and gives a little more dimension to my eyes which can be lost a bit when I’m in “gameplay mode” in a smaller stream window. Also…who doesn’t feel ready to roll when their eye makeup Is on point, right?
My favourite lash pick is definitely Eyelure’s “Most Wanted: I Heart This” pack (6)
I can sit for around 6 hours on a long stream (with breaks to stretch and nourish myself of course!), so I often find that jeans are a no-no. I won’t lie, I’ve even been known to wear my loungewear or pyjama bottoms on stream before, but hey, who even knows (oops)!?
Something like these ultra comfy but fun rainbow sport stripe tracksuit bottoms (3) from Boohoo are perfect for feeling fancy but flexi, and teamed with their currently much loved Shannon ‘Wanderer’ contrast tshirt (1) really ties the fun look together.
Socks are essential for keeping those toes warm, so I’m all over these cute little sport socks (5) with pearl detailing, again from Boohoo.
Whilst we’re here I’d like to give a shoutout to some of my favourite peripherals for both streaming and gaming! Prizes most definitely go to Blue Yeti for their awesome microphone series. Mine here is the Platinum (8). The sounds quality is second to none I’ve ever tried and a huge hit with streamers alike. You can literally just leave the guy sat anywhere on your desk and have the freedom of movement without needing a headset, whilst still getting across great audio quality.
Also very much in love with my Logitech C922 Pro webcam (4) which comes with really impressive options of 1080p or fluid HD 720p at 60fps settings, which broadcasts in full HD with integrated background replacement too for green screen use.
You can check out my sound and visual quality here in my latest Twitch Clips (best to filter by “all time” to view the whole collection).
Another shout out to my Corsair K30 gaming keyboard too (7). It's snazzily backlit (fully adjustable too), and has a satisfying "mechanical feel" without the clicking. Not only that, there are upto 18 possible key presets and combos possible for all of your binding needs. A nice little starter gaming keyboard if you want the flexibility of presets and such, but nothing too over complicated.
I by no means have the beastiest beast of a gaming PC, however if you’re interested, here’s the spec!
